Known Issues with GES Release gesiDR4
This page documents the known issues with GES Release gesiDR2iDR3 as of
8 February 2016.
GIRAFFE VSINI Due to a bug in the rotational velocity
determination for the GIRAFFE spectra, for stars with rotational velocity less than 15 km/s
the values saturate at 15 km/s rather than continuing on towards zero as expected.
Thus rotational velocities below 15 km/s should be treated with caution. High rotational
velocity stars are unaffected. This bug has been fixed for iDR5. The GIRAFFE pipeline
rotational velocities are available as part of the metadata in WFAU, but these are not
official recommended values. Use as indicators with caution and contact the PIs regarding
any potential publications.
GIRAFFE SNR Due to a bug in the GIRAFFE reduction pipeline
the SNR has been overestimated therefore no GIRAFFE SNR values are provided as recommended
values. This issue has been resolved for iDR5. The GIRAFFE pipeline signal-to-noise values
are available as part of the metadata in WFAU, but these are not official recommended values.
Use as indicators with caution and contact the PIs regarding any potential publications.
Super Metal-Rich sample There are ∼740 target stars
(that is unique CNAMEs) with [Fe/H] > 0.75dex located at Teff ∼4000K and logg ∼5.0.
These values are typically derived from low SNR observations.
