Start Here - Getting Going Using the GES Science Archive
Login infoAccess to a given data release is initially restricted to registered users for a proprietary period. Registered users should first login in order to be able to access the latest proprietary releases; otherwise only public releases will be accessible. Currently all releases in the GES Science Archive are proprietary. Subsets of the data, subject to quality criteria, have been made public through ESO Phase 3 releases. Archive contentsThe GES Science Archive comprises calibrated one- and two-dimensional spectra for stars observed in the GES survey, and a variety of astrophysical parameters (heliocentric radial velocity, effective temperature, surface gravity, metallicity etc) derived from these spectra. More details are provided in the data overview section. Details of the contents of a given data release are given on the release history page. Data accessThe GES Science Archive can initially be accessed and queried using the freeform SQL form. In all releases subsequent to and including iDR2 it is possible to retrieve copies of the spectra as FITS files. In order to do so you should include column fileName in your query, and then a link from which you can download each file will be included in the query results. The fileName column is tabulated in tables SpectrumGroup and SpecFrame, so in order to download files your query must include one of these tables. Forming queries which join the analysis results with these tables is described in some of the examples. Various documentation, including introductory examples, is available to assist querying the archive. The schema browser gives details of all the tables and columns held in the archive.
